Fashion: Going For Gold

By Tara Pepper

Gold has long been a safe haven for investors. Now it’s the metal du jour for fashionistas, too. Gold jewelry and accessories are making a comeback, fueled by classier design and better marketing. Soul singer Joss Stone sported a striking gold necklace and earrings by Italian designer Di Modolo at this past fall’s Fashion Rocks Awards, looking more Greek goddess than hip-hop hipster. As designer Devi Kroell says: “Gold is a showstopper.”

Warmer and more sensual than silver or platinum, gold flatters most skin tones. “It looks sensational against a tan in the summer and works equally well to bring warmth in the winter months,” says Sarah Bartlett of the trendsetting London boutique Browns

Peace House Africa Honors Fashion Designer Rebecca Minkoff at “Colors of Hope Hamptons” Gala Benefit

Market Wire, July, 2010

Peace House Africa (PHA), a U.S. based, 501c non-profit organization committed to educating AIDS orphans in East Africa, announced today that fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff will be honored at the Colors of Hope Hamptons charity benefit to help raise awareness for the foundation’s mission. The event, which will take place at a private estate in Southampton, New York, will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Peace House Africa. To purchase tickets, visit http://peacehouse.charityhappenings.org .

Rebecca Minkoff’s designs are a favorite of celebrities including Lauren Conrad, Keira Knightley and Reese Witherspoon. Known for her luxury handbags, accessories and clothing designs, Rebecca is committed to helping raise awareness of the critical issues that Africa’s AIDs orphans face today.

The charity event will include a premiere silent auction, deluxe gift bags, hors d’oeurvres, open bars and specialty cocktails by Makers Mark and Tequila Avin. Event contributors include Audemer Piguet, Rita Hazon, La Prairie, Vineyard Vines, Godiva, The Setai Spa Wall Street, Herman Miller, Essie, among many others. RDV Southampton will host the Colors of Hope after party, offering ticket holders VIP entrance and complimentary open bar, sponsored by Absolut, from 10 – 11 p.m.

Located in Arusha, Tanzania, the Peace House Secondary School (PHS) offers a groundbreaking curriculum, which provides an education that focuses on teaching business entrepreneurial skills. Graduates of PHS will become job creators — young people who can build a sustainable future for Tanzania.

“All children deserve an education so they can build a better future for themselves and their community,” said Rebecca Minkoff. “In Tanzania, AIDS continues to rob the lives of millions of adults, orphaning their children and deepening the hold of poverty in one of the world’s poorest countries. Peace House Africa helps provide the tools needed to achieve change in this region by producing graduates who can build sustainable businesses and create jobs for Tanzania’s suffering economy.”

Whether to breastfeed or

July 29th, 2010 admin No comments

Whether to breastfeed or use a bottle is one of them. When making your choice, consider the benefits of breastfeeding.

Breastfed babies receive a large amount of nutritional and health benefits. They have lower rates of hospitalizations, ear infections, rashes and allergies. They also have better vaccine protection, meaning a higher response to immunizations. This is due to the transfer of the mother?s antibodies through milk.

All of baby?s nutritional needs will be met. There are one hundred ingredients in breast milk not found in formula. Breast milk contains fatty acids, lactose, water and amino acids that are essential. These, among other nutrients aid in digestion, brain development and growth. It also promotes good jaw development. Breastfed babies also have a lower amount of trips to the dentist when they are older.

Babies tend to have virtually no allergic reactions to breast milk.

What about the psychological benefits? Touch is so very important to any human, especially a newborn.

Lucas Oil Additives, which we

July 29th, 2010 admin No comments

Lucas Oil Additives, which we have been testing in our Corporate Command Center has declared a 25,000 interval frequency.

http://www.carwashguys.com/blitz.html

I see a problem as technology for oil becomes better with companies like Speedco for truck oil changes and for companies like Jiffy Lube for cars. Cars average frequency for oil changes is over 4,000 miles even though the companies who do oil changes have gotten together and decided that the industry would proclaim 3000 as the best policy.

Even National Oil and Lube News in Amarillo and ASO magazine seem to be printing those figures in their publications.

Back in our arms happy to be home once again

NORFOLK

Kim Hardesty has endured so many deployments, she can’t remember how many times her husband has gone off to sea in his 18 years in the Navy.

Six, maybe. Or eight?

Enough times, anyway, that she approached Lt. Alan Har-desty’s homecoming Wednesday with humor. Standing on the pier at Norfolk Naval Station as the destroyer Forrest Sherman approached, Hardesty held a homemade poster with a message that made women around her smile.

“Don’t worry honeycakies , I only bought 10 pair of shoes,” the sign declared. She was wearing one pair – pointy-toed brown suede boots.

Hardesty may know all about farewells and homecomings, but she wasn’t as familiar with the fine points of Christmas tree duty. She and Jackie, her college-age daughter, had to tackle that on their own this month, with sometimes comical results.

The women laughed about bringing home a fresh pine tree that was too tall for the room. They cut the top of the tree off to make it fit, only to have it fall over – five times – after it was fully trimmed.

“It’s kind of squatty, but it looks good,” Kim Hardesty insisted.

Jackie Hardesty also took the humorous approach to her dad’s return. “Welcome home, Dad. Can I get $20.00?,” her sign read.

The Sherman, three other destroyers and the aircraft carrier Enterprise pulled into the naval base, ending a 5 1/2-month deployment to the Middle East.

CHEEP CHEAP!

THE New Year sales signs have only just come down, now up go the ones offering Easter bargains.

All week there’s been gloom and doom about the credit crunch and the bleak outlook for mortgages.

With stores also feeling the pinch, they’re desperate to get us spending what’s left of our cash. And the good news is they’re having to offer massive bargains.

Retail analyst Richard Perks, director of retail research company Mintel, says: “The fact Easter’s come early this year and the weather’s still freezing is seriously bad for retailers

The more you can afford

July 29th, 2010 admin No comments

The more you can afford to spend, the more you get to use credible spokespeople to help tell your story. It is a numbers game.

So by all means pitch ?Oprah? first if you have a story that will hug her heart. Next work the syndicated morning shows. Then try the syndicated writers at the major news services when your news is hard and important. Talk to AOL when you have the money, or put it in the movie theatre, the newest venue for enlightening if not annoying a captive audience.

But you can also tell your story with incredible reach and exciting response if you
use newspaper mat features to newspapers nationwide via Points of Persuasion Syndicate. For $2100, your message gets faxed to 10,000 plus print and online newspaper outlets immediately. Newspapers use the free columns. Your message gets printed exactly as you tell it, or your captioned color illustration tells the story just the way you approved it.
